Cyber Security SOC Analyst

£30,000 p.a. (depending on experience) + Enhancements
Full-time, permanent, Bradford office-based

Are you a Cyber Security Analyst looking for your next step?

This is an opportunity to join the UK's, longest standing, and leading cyber security full-service provider. As part of our ongoing growth (our Managed Services Division grew 48% in 2019), ECSC Group plc is expanding its Security Operations Centre team to include an additional SOC Analyst to provide "Blue Team" functions to the SOC to support the defence of our clients' systems.

ECSC runs 24/7/365 managed cyber security services from UK and Australian Security Operations Centres, in addition to a range of consulting and cyber security testing services. The Role

Reporting directly to the SOC Manager, you will:

  • Maintain the security of our clients' systems, and help the team to protect, detect and respond to security incidents
  • Understand how threat attacks to clients' systems can be applied, detected and defended against through continuous learning and skills development
  • Perform research and analysis of threat attacks as they are played out
  • Develop responses to attacks and communicate these to the client within SLAs
  • Continuously develop and adapt the systems that we build and manage to ensure they maintain security in the face of new threats to, and changes in, the clients' environments

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience in a similar cyber security role
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity threats, attacks. Knowledge of target systems
  • Understanding of modern computer networking
  • Knowledge in key functional areas including TCP/IP networking, Linux Operating Systems, iptables firewalling, Ossec/Wazuh, Squid, Apache, Nginx, postfix, Snort, Suricata, Bro, Modsecurity
  • Scripting and secure configuration of systems
  • Security management of other systems including Windows, Cisco is also desirable

Software Developer

Up to £45,000 p.a.

This is an opportunity to join the UK's, longest standing, and leading cyber security full-service provider. As part of our ongoing growth, ECSC Group plc is expanding its Development team to include an additional Software Developer.

We are currently working remotely given the pandemic restrictions, however once we return to the office, we are open to the role being office-based, remote-based or a combination of the two.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Development Manager, the Front End Developer will be responsible for:

  • Developing software including state of the art client facing security dashboards and portals.
  • Improving and maintaining existing products.
  • Testing and releasing software.
  • Staying up to date with the newest technologies.
Joining our Labs team is not just about meeting deadlines, it's also about a thirst for learning and creating state of the art technology. You will be actively encouraged to learn and develop your skills.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3 years+ experience with PHP
  • Exposure to Linux
  • Version control (Git)
  • Degree in Computer Science or similar (advantageous but not essential)
  • Experience in React and Symfony (advantageous but not essential)

The Role

Reporting directly to the Testing Service Director, the Lead Infrastructure Tester will be responsible for:

  • Client Engagements: applying established ECSC processes in order to provide high quality deliverables to our clients; working alongside Lead Consultants in delivering client engagements. Building client relationships
  • Colleague Development: sharing skills and knowledge
  • Service Development: contributing to service development activities and identifying/raising potential improvements to Service Directors; identifying future sales opportunities

Required Skills & Experience

  • Ideally CREST Certified Infrastructure Tester or equivalent
  • OSCP/OSCE/CRT, desirable but not essential
  • Able to lead complex consulting projects, often managing a team of testers to deliver quality testing services
  • Able to act and communicate professionally with clients
  • Good verbal and written communication skills

Technical Support Engineer

Whilst beneficial, previous experience in cyber security is not a requirement.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Infrastructure Manager, the role will include:

  • 1st & 2nd Line Support - handling end user requests/issues, logging tickets, triage, troubleshooting
  • Setup and maintain end user devices - desktops, laptops, phones, mobiles, peripherals
  • New starter (inc. IT induction) and leaver processes
  • Asset inventory management/tracking inc. managing spare stock
  • User directory maintenance - group membership and attributes, email routing
  • IT procurement - ordering hardware, renewal of subscriptions

Required Skills & Experience

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently, flexible and adaptive to learning on their feet
  • Takes methodical approach, process driven, strong troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication - both verbal and written
  • Linux knowledge highly preferable
  • Networking knowledge preferable - IP routing, VPN, DNS, DHCP, VLANs
  • Fast and eager learner, logical and naturally inquisitive
  • Keen interest in software, cyber security and/or open source technology
  • Driving licence highly preferable
