Careers

As a rapidly growing company in a dynamic sector, ECSC is always interested in hearing from individuals who are keen to develop their skills and knowledge in cyber security. We have a range of roles in our Security Operations Centre, along with other field-based opportunities.

At present, ECSC has a dedicated in-house recruitment department and, as such, we are not looking to engage the services of any third-party recruiters at this time. We will update this page should this change in the future.

Penetration Tester

£27,000 to £50,000 (dep. on skills & experience)

Do you have a keen interest in penetration testing and wish to develop your career in a broad range of 'ethical hacking' engagements using the latest tools and techniques? Can you solve complex technical challenges for our clients and deliver social engineering 'hacking the human' tests?

You should be driven by a thirst for knowledge and excel at problem solving. You should have recent experience in a range of testing techniques, and demonstrate sound understanding of technical vulnerabilities, associated exploits and testing methodologies. You should be able to communicate findings effectively (both verbally and in formal reports) with clients at both a technical and business level in order to support them in their remediation of the vulnerabilities you have uncovered for them.

The role can involve extensive travel as you will spend significant periods of time at client sites throughout the UK, helping them to address their security risks. This is a fast-paced role and you will rarely be in one location for more than a single week. There may be opportunities for travel abroad, especially if you develop your wider security consulting skills.

The role is UK-wide and therefore current location is not critical.

You will be joining a team of highly motivated and skilled consultants from whom you'll learn a great deal (and who will also want to learn from you!) through regular team development days and our Consulting Academy.

ECSC is a strong believer in developing good staff through internal training and supporting qualifications. All our consultants are required to achieve CISSP, either before joining or within the first three months, reflecting their wider knowledge of security management.

You may have a relevant security degree and have (or be working towards) OSCP as a minimum (and preferred over CEH). As a CREST organisation, the following CREST qualifications are also desirable in this role: CPSA, CRT CCT.

ECSC expects all consultants to contribute to more than one service area, giving you the opportunity to widen your knowledge and skill-set.

In addition to a very competitive salary, the company offers a generous employee benefits package including company car (or allowance), performance-related bonus, share options, 25 days' holiday, company pension scheme and private healthcare. You will also have an annual personal development budget which you can choose to spend on conferences, qualifications or training resources.

Lead Penetration Tester

£50,000 to £75,000 (dep. on skills & experience)

Are you an experienced penetration tester, with a minimum of five years' experience, looking to further develop your career? Do you enjoy leading client engagements across the full range of technical cyber security testing services, including social engineering? Do you have the experience to lead complex engagements and co-ordinate the activities of a project team?

You should have current experience in the full range of testing techniques, and demonstrate sound understanding of technical vulnerabilities, associated exploits, and testing methodologies. You should be able to lead client communications, and feedback findings effectively (both verbally and in formal reports). You must also be able to support clients in their remediation of the vulnerabilities you have uncovered for them.

The role can involve extensive travel as you will spend significant periods of time at client sites throughout the UK, helping them address their security risks. This is a fast-paced role and you will rarely be in one location for more than a single week.

The role is nationwide and therefore current location is not critical. Although primarily UK-based, there are likely to be opportunities for travel abroad, as many of our clients are international.

We strive for excellence in all aspects of our client service. You will be expected to support this professional ethos at all times. Your listening and communication skills – both written and oral – must be first class. Any authoring of articles/papers etc., and presentation experience, could be an advantage. Your time-management skills should also be excellent.
